Globe use the Harmony proxy software on their Globe Tattoo service, to limit the speed and perform general traffic shaping. If you’re looking to improve the speed of your connection, you need to bypass this proxy. Bypassing this proxy also allows you to get around the daily fair usage policy (800mb) and use your connection for whatever you like, including torrents.

There are 3 primary methods of increasing the speed of your Globe Tattoo (not counting signal issues). Firstly, if you have a remote server (ie a dedicated server or VPS), you can install a ping tunnel, such as hans ping tunnel, and then funnel your connection through that server via pings. Globe allow pings to go directly to the remote server without going through their proxy software. This means that your surfing is not limited and the usage is not added to your daily bandwidth usage.

Another way would be to use a SSH tunnel or VPN, since these protocols are both heavily encrypted, the Harmony proxy is unable to proxy them and instead allows direct connections. These means that they cant apply their speed limiting and traffic shaping rules, allowing you to surf as fast as your connection can physically handle.

When you try to visit a domain like Facebook.com in your web browser, your computer sends a request to whatever DNS server is set on your computer or router, asking for the IP address of that domain. Your computer then connects to that IP address and requests the page that you originally wanted to visit.

OpenDNS allow you to limit or block what sites people on your network visit by returning the IP address of their own web server rather than the real server, when someone tries to access a blocked website. For example, if you blocked Facebook.com via the openDNS control panel, anyone on your network who tries to visit it would be redirected to block.opendns.com instead of being given the expected IP address of 69.63.181.12.

openDNS allows users to assign websites to categories, e.g Youtube to the ‘Video’ category. In turn, this categorisation allows network administrators to block whole category of websites rather than having to block each individual one.

While this blocking is extremely simple to enable, it’s relatively easy to bypass – a user simply needs to direct their DNS requests through an alternative public DNS server rather than using openDNS.

The United Nations has helped in improving international relations between different countries around the world, and they have also helped in addressing various issues that require global attention. Before the time of the UN people were allowed to openly wage wars and the only cooperation going on was the cooperation between alliances, which is a very problematic setup because it is not a very strong treatise and can change depending on the situation.

But with the formation of the UN international laws were created in order to limit the power of countries and in order to protect these nations from the kind of abuse and horror that they have experienced in the centuries before.

In the years since the United Nations has been formed the world has become a better place. They have managed to maintain the peace to a certain level in the world, have addressed different social issues so that they may be one step closer to being resolved, have provided food and shelter to those who needed them, all through the help of the nations included.

This gives us hope for a better and more united future – hope that in spite of our differences, we can actually work our way around them and work towards improving the lives of our nation and those around us.

In Asia, it is a growing trend to show videos of politicians from a country fighting while they are in session. Their social debates-turned-squabbles-turned-violent provide primetime material for the news teams on standby, and they provide both entertainment and disappointment to those people watching in their homes and on the internet. Countries such as Taiwan, South Korea, and the Philippines have all had their share of these rather embarrassing moments.

I ask: do people not see how this is a reflection of the nation that these politicians govern? These instances are treated as people would treat your primetime drama tv show – a very good source of entertainment. But if the government is divided and cannot even manage to keep their temper in check in a professional setting, then surely people should doubt their capability to unite nations as well. Other nations manage to come up with a consensus no matter how divided and diverse their thoughts are, because they put the welfare of the nation first.

Hopefully the Asian countries will follow this lead instead of being more concerned on getting what they want and (literally) fighting for it in the process.

It is no question that women have been fighting for their rights for the entirety of human history. In the recent decades women have succeeded in changing their situation from being domesticated people to being professionally successful, and women have been able to assert their rights to equality, to voice out their opinions, while demanding respect from the men around them. Many feminist uprisings and feminist groups have since been formed, and women around the world have benefitted from these changes that the brave souls before their time fought for.

But in the modern world, have women taken feminism a step too far? Attending events in eastwood city A friend pointed out that feminism asks for equal treatment, but what happens nowadays is that the men are bullied by the women into taking action that the women want. The women are able to do this, my friend says, because the men are afraid that this will be taken against them and they will be labeled chauvinists if they refuse and assert their rights as well.

Also, many women try to justify the negative actions of other women by saying “If men can do it, why can’t we?” even if their actions are no longer respectful of the people around them. Observe the world around you and ask: Have the women gone too far when it comes to asserting their rights and asserting themselves in general?

Parasailing is becoming a popular recreational activity when one goes on vacation. I want to try it myself but I have not had the chance to do so. Still, for thrill-seekers who want a taste of what it is like to fly for a moment, parasailing is a safe and fun way of satisfying that hunger for thrill.

The parasail includes the parachute used to take you up; the harness, which is used to secure you; and the tow rope, which is attached to the boat which will pull you. Most of those offering commercial para-sailing services have boats that allow two people to parasail at the same time, but for the smaller boats, only one person at a time can be raised to the sky and pulled. As mentioned, the parasailer is being pulled by the boat; therefore, he does not have control over the direction he will go to.

This allows him to take gorgeous photos from above, with the consent of the instructor of course. If being hoisted up in the air to see the world from above is your kind of thing, consider parasailing the next time you’re on a trip.

Cruising is a luxurious way of traveling as the journey itself provides amenities and services meant to give pleasure and relaxation to their passengers. It is rising in popularity as more and more packages are made available to more people, as cheaper packages and group discounts are constantly offered by different cruise liners around the world. The most popular cruise destinations are The Carribean, the Mexican Riviera, and the entirety of Europe, but there are more and more packages for different places that are available for those who want to try and visit other countries as well.

When going on a cruise there are a few things you should remember. First and foremost, you should ensure that you have everything that you need packed in your bags. While a cruise ship may be like a hotel, you may end up needing more things than they have and they may not have as many of your basic necessities as you would imagine, and so it’s best to be prepared. This would also apply when discussing bringing cameras and cellphones and their respective chargers.

It’s best to make a list so you do not leave anything behind. Also, make a mental note of the possible sicknesses you can get in the places you are about to visit and on the cruise ship itself, and make sure you have your personal health kit ready in case of emergency. Talk to your companions about your arrangements in case you want to explore on your own and then want to meet up later so that nobody gets left behind, and make sure you leave your contact details to people who may need to contact you in case there is an emergency at home so that you can be reached. With these simple guidelines, going on a cruise will be enjoyable and worth your while.

Ilocos Sur is famous for many things – its tasty empanada, its historical buildings, its strong drink, the lambanog and Luis “Chavit” Singson’s Baluarte Zoo, to name a few. I have been to the Baluarte Zoo before, when I went on vacation in Ilocos Sur, and I’ve walked the streets of Vigan and explored the different shops that have popped up in their historic buildings. I’ve also spent time playing in Plaza Burgos, when I visited Vigan with my parents back when I was a little girl, and I remember seeing the busts of the GomBurZa priests and former president Elpidio Quirino, as Father Jose Burgos and the former president are both popular Ilocos Sur natives.

There are many tourist spots in Ilocos Sur that you can visit, and if you love architecture and history you will find both in this Philippine province. There is the popular Tirad Pass, the last fortress of the Filipino Revolution led by General Emilio Aguinaldo. There is also the Bessang Pass, which was used by Yamashita as his last fortress during the Second World War. There is the Plaza Salcedo, which was named after the founder of Vigan, Don Juan de Salcedo.

There are many old churches with beautiful architecture like the Santa Maria Church, which is a World Heritage Site and a National Landmark. Do not worry about finding your way around or finding other tourist spots and finding your way around in general – speaking from experience, the Ilocanos are friendly and are very helpful, and they are aware of their history and so they can help you out.

House sitting has been around for quite a long time, and many people benefit from the arrangement that this presents. The home owners go someplace for a certain amount of time, and they find a house sitter to tend to their house – to clean, to check if the facilities are okay, to watch over their possessions, sometimes even to take care of their pets. In turn, the house sitter has a place to stay for the entire duration of the home owners’ trip away. They may or may not get paid depending on the agreement that they make.

What most people do not realize at once is that this can be turned into a way to save money when you go on trips to other places where you do not know anyone. More and more people are looking for house sitters who are willing to take care of their house and stay there while they are gone, and more and more travelers are willing to house sit for free as long as they get to stay in the house.

This saves the traveler time because they do not have to hurry and book a hotel room and it saves them money as they only have to pay for their basic needs without any service charge, as is the case in hotels. With proper research on the people involved, house sitting is a good way to save money for travelers who are passing through and would like a comfortable, private setting that’s free.

There are two very popular choices when it comes to comfort food: ice cream and chocolate. This is because chocolate has seratonin, a chemical present in the brain that affects our mood, and ice cream because studies show that food high in sugar and fat (both of which ice cream has) help in decreasing negative emotions. Even I turn to chocolate and ice cream every now and then whenever I need an instant mood lift.

Of course, when you’re health-conscious or just plain guilty, you want to make it as healthy as possible. What I do is throw in a generous amount of fresh fruit in the mix. The safest fruits would be bananas and strawberries, but I try other things every now and then. It’s easier now because there are more options for healthier ice cream in health stores all over, and in the same stores you can find caffeine-free, low-fat chocolate which is very good especially for people with acidic stomachs.

Just take a pint of the healthy ice cream, buy the healthy chocolate, and you can either grate the chocolate over the ice cream and sprinkle sliced fruits over it or melt the chocolate, pour it over the ice cream and fruits combination and just enjoy as you feel your mood getting better.

Recently I got to taste something I always see in the fruit stands but have not had the chance to try – the pitaya, more popularly known as the dragon fruit. I’ve tried the Red Pitaya, which has red skin and white flesh, and the flesh tasted very sweet and a bit tangy and it was very juicy. The dragon fruit grows in Southeast Asia and in Mexico and so there is an exoticism attached to it, which is how I got drawn to try it in the first place. But upon doing my research, I found out that there was more to this fruit than meets the eye.

The dragon fruit is good for your body because it contains Vitamin C, which improves our body’s defenses against diseases. If you’re looking to conceive instead of going the adopters route then this may help. Also, it is rich in fiber, which cleans the body and makes it easier for people to defecate. It is also rich in calcium and phosphorus. It has antioxidants, which reduce the risks of certain cancers and prevent the formation of cancer-causing free radicals in the body.

Finally, it is easy to digest and promotes the cleansing of toxins in the body as well as lowers both blood pressure and cholesterol levels. If you’re looking for a healthy snack with an exotic flair and a lot of benefits packed into it, you might want to try grabbing a bite of dragon fruit.

I made Chicken Kiev for my boyfriend the other day. I’ve tried it in one of the restaurants where he and I went on a date, and I just had to learn how to make it, so I went online, found a relatively no-fuss recipe and tried it out for him to taste. It’s pretty easy – the crust is made of powdered corn flakes and herbs of your choice, and the butter insde the chicken is made of butter, chives, and a lot of garlic. You buy boneless chicken cuts, wrap the chilled butter cubes with the chicken, dip it in buttermilk and then in the crust mixture and bake it at 350 degrees until it’s golden-brown.

I let him try it and he really loved it. It was not like the kiev that we ate in that restaurant – that was a big piece of chicken and had more spices in the garlic herb butter filling – but it was every bit as tasty and as savoury. Since then I’ve tried variations in the recipe, trying which herbs work and which herbs don’t with the different flavors, and I’ve tried using carbonated drinks to coat the chicken instead of using buttermilk. I’ve also tried out using the herb that is popularly used with chicken – rosemary. It’s just your choice of how to mix and match the ingredients, and who knows, you just may come up with a new recipe that will become a favourite in restaurants.

Perfectly-made cheesecake is something that a lot of people believe is almost impossible to achieve. Those who try to make cheesecake complain about various things. It could be that the crust is too crumbly, or that it’s too tough; it could be that the cheese is too tangy or sometimes, too bland; It could be too sweet, too plain, too heavy, too light – name every possible thing that could go wrong with a cheesecake and for sure someone has mentioned that somewhere in the world. But while one may not know how to make a perfect cheesecake, one could easily try to make an easier version which ends up just as creamy and delicious as the baked variants.

Let’s take everyone’s favorite cheesecake – the blueberry cheesecake. Both baked and no-bake variants are tasty and succulent, but the no-bake version is easier to make because it eats up less time and it’s perfect for beginners. You just take a pack of powdered graham crackers, mix it with half a cup of butter, place it in a springform pan and let it set in the fridge while you whip together a cup of cream and a cup of cream cheese. Add a cup of gelatin which has not set yet, and pour over the crust, and let it set in the fridge and when it’s ready, pour half a can of blueberry pie filling over it. If you want to decorate it you can just whip more cream and pipe it according to your desired design using a piping bag.

Making the perfect cheesecake does not have to be fussy. The best way to go about it is find the easiest way to make it, and then find the best quality ingredients that you can find, and you’re well on your way.

Where is Lauryn Hill nowadays?

Lauryn Hill has been missing from the music scene for awhile. But back when she was still very active and present in the music industry, she had made quite a name for herself. As part of the Fugees, she lent her voice to hits such as “Ready Or Not” and “Killing Me Softly”. As a solo artist she sang (and wrote) songs about love and life in general, and about being strong and about surviving life in spite of the challenges it may throw at you. She was able to produce hits like “Doo Wop (That Thing)”, “Ex-Factor”, and “Everything Is Everything”. Because of The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill she received ten nominations at the Grammy’s in 1999 and won five out of the ten awards she was nominated for. She was very successful and was at the top of her game.

Afterwards, though, she had difficulty with the music industry as she had mentioned that she was dissatisfied with having music as her only form of expression. Also, she had issues with what the record company she was signed onto wanted and consistently experienced conflicts with them, which was why she lay low. Even when she did, though, she still felt a taste of success, as in 2002 she received a Grammy for her song “Mystery of Iniquity”.

Her continued success in the music industry in spite of whatever controversies she may be involved in proves that Lauryn Hill is a tour de force in the business. She most probably will continue to create beautiful and meaningful music. Hopefully she returns with something good very soon, something that will inspire the world and empower all people.

The RENT OBC Recording is an amazing piece of record that every Broadway junkie like me should have. While the lyrics may have allusions to events, places and people that not all generations will understand unless they do their research, the core message of the rock opera still resonates in the entire album: that love is that one thing that matters, and that there is not day but today to share that love.

Now if you’re the type of person concerned about the voice quality of the people singing, or live shows of amature teens and have not seen the show on Broadway when the original cast was still playing, then let me assure you: the original Broadway cast may have been new and unestablished (save Daphne Rubin-Vega, who, with her group Pajama Party, made a name in the dance scene with their music, and Anthony Rapp, who has appeared in the 1987 film Adventures in Babysitting), but Jonathan Larson chose people with mad vocals. Just listen to the power struggle between the lesbian lovers in “Take Me or Leave Me” – Fredi Walker (who was the original Joanne Jefferson) and Idina Menzel (the original Maureen Johnson) both display their vocal capabilities and use these mad vocals to convey such strong emotions. Or listen to Adam Pascal’s Roger hesitate to let Mimi (Daphne Rubin-Vega) in his life, singing in that clear tenor voice of his matched with Daphne’s raspy vocals.

The music that Jonathan Larson wrote still sounds modern and up-to-date, because the issues that he tackled in Rent are issues that still resonate even to this day. Everyone still deals with loss and love and coping with life, and so his work still is relevant today. But the best thing about Rent is that the music tells the story, so that even if you only had the OBC recording you would be able to imagine the portrait he is trying to paint with his words and his music. I have my copy and it’s one album I’m never getting rid of and I’m sure I’d always like it as much as I do now.

Who didn’t get hooked on the Backstreet Boys? I know I did. Like every girl I know, I had a crush on Nick Carter, and I didn’t care whenever some boy would say that he’s gay. All I knew then was that he looked cute, he could sing, and he was in the hottest boy band of the time.

Lately I’ve been listening to their earlier songs. I can’t imagine my childhood without making mention of “Quit Playing Games” or “Anywhere for You”. We would dance to “Get Down (You’re The One For Me”) and I would always imagine that the boys dedicate “I’ll Never Break Your Heart” to me. I would look at the television, straight into Nick’s eyes, and just listen to him crooning with that boyish charm he has always had.

People may laugh now at these songs because they embody the boy band era and the bubblegum pop sound, but they did become very famous and successful at a time when pop was returning, and so really, the Backstreet Boys are the ones who have the last laugh here. Plus who does not crave their taste of their childhood music every now and then? Our dads want to hear Englebert Humperdinck or the BeeGees. It just so happens that my childhood had Nick and the rest of the Backstreet Boys in it.

Christina Aguilera’s Back to Basics album is a refreshing change from the last image that we saw of her in the 2002 “Dirrty” video from the album Stripped. In that video Aguilera looked every bit as rowdy as the lyrics of her first single claim to be, and many people (myself included) were pretty much shocked at the change from the wholesome teen with a big voice to a very sexually open woman unafraid to push the borders. For the third album, Aguilera makes yet another change in her image, but this time it works – she has changed her looks into the 40s and 50s sexpot image and with it, she has changed her music from the loud and messy sounds of rebellion to a more classy and bluesy sound with a modern twist.

Her first single off the third album caught my attention when it first came out. “Ain’t No Other Man” shows what she meant when she explained in interviews that she wanted to show a marriage of blues / soul / jazz and the modern pop sound, and she wanted it to be upbeat but easy to sing to. The catchy lyrics make it easy to memorize and to sing along to, and the fast tempo lives up to her promise of giving light and upbeat songs this time around. Another single from the album, “Candyman”, is very upbeat and very jazzy without sounding old. It is also sassy and sexual without sounding obscene, which is more appealing to a fanbase comprised of people of all ages. Of course, like in the previous album there is a particular song that shows empowerment and strength. In Stripped that single was “Beautiful”. In this album, the title of the song is “Oh Mother” and it talks about the strength provided by mothers to their children and vice-versa as they grow together through the years.

Having cleaner lyrics and classic sound without sacrificing sass and sex appeal makes Back to Basics far better than its predecessor. The four years’ wait between the two was sure worth it, and hopefully from this point on Christina Aguilera only continues to morph for the better.
